The piece weaves Australian history with a tragic love story - between the Prince and one of his favourite Melbourne prostitutes.
This little known slice of Australian History tells of Queen Victoria's 2nd son, Prince Alfred, who while undertaking the first Royal tour of the Empire in 1867, is subject to an attempted assassination by a ‘mad’ Irishman who was training to become a Catholic priest.
The story deals with the themes of freedom, royal lust, female oppression, patriotic revenge, class distinction, political cunning, naked ambition, religious corruption and racial discrimination.
A dystopian 'God Save the Queen' opens the show followed by the Love theme ( Tell me you love me )
